This wine marks the third release for Petroni Vineyards Sauvignon Blanc. The intention was to make a wine with floral, fruitful, easy-to-drink appeal. Our stylistic approach was more of New Zealand meets the Loire, than pure Bordeaux Blanc.
The Vineyard:
Giaquinto Vineyard
The fruit for the 2007 was sourced from our estate vineyard in
the Mayacamas Mountains and Giaquinto Vineyard located in the Russian River
Valley.

The
Harvest:
Combining Clone 1 and the Musque clone from these two vineyards, the harvest
took place early morning on the 12th and 13th of September. Picked between
23 and 25 Brix, the fruit on both days was whole cluster pressed, with the
juice settling two days prior to racking and the onset of fermentation.
The Wine:
Aged in a combination of used and new French Oak barrels, the wine
is brilliant in appearance with a green and straw colored hues. The bouquet
is an elegant reflection of the component clones, showing both the
pineapple, citrus, and orange blossom aromas found in the raw juice and
fermentation esthers, accented by a slightly toasted vanilla nuance derived
from the barrel treatment. Absolutely dry, the wines mouthfeel is fruit
driven and silky, textured by the partial malolactic fermentation it was
allowed to undergo. A very generous finish.
