Wildly Crisp with a Hint of Spice:
Vineyards
The 2008 fruit was harvested from our estate Petroni Vineyard in
the Sonoma Mayacamas Mountains. To add complexity to this wine, we also
sourced grapes from the Giaquinto Vineyard located in the Russian River
Valley.
Winemaking Techniques
Our winemaker determined the optimum level of sugar (Brix between 23 and 25)
for the Sauvignon Blanc grapes which came in late August and early September
of 2008. In the crisp early hours of what was left of summer, the varietals
were harvested from the Sonoma Mayacamas Mountains and Russian River Valley
vineyards. The freshly picked fruit was whole cluster pressed and the juice
was allowed to settle two days prior to racking and the subsequent onset of
fermentation.
Tasting Notes
Tropical fruits, melon and passion fruit dominate the aromas with a
pleasing creamy, spicy nuance adding complexity. Rich stone and citrus
fruit coat the mouth with a touch of spicy toasty oak in the background,
leading to a palate that finishes long and beautifully balanced.
