Having
tasted many extra virgin olive oils, Vintner and Restaurateur Lorenzo
Petroni could not find one that replicated the smooth and rich extra virgin
oils of his native Tuscany. After years of searching, he decided to
make his own.
In 1992 Lorenzo air-freighted 10,000 olive trees from Pescia, Italy to California. The trees were of five distinct Tuscan cultivars not commonly found in the United States; Pendolino, Leccino, Moraiolo, Frantoio, and Carotina. After the mandatory two-year quarantine only 2,000 trees survived, which were planted on the family estate in the West Mayacamas of Sonoma in 1994. Petroni Vineyard’s first 100% organic extra virgin olive oil was released in 1998. The olives are hand picked and cold pressed at the Glen Ellen Olive Press.
This exceptionally rich, Tuscan-style extra virgin olive oil offers a robust herbal flavor and spicy finish, you'll discover this oil is the perfect complement to virtually any foods that you salt and pepper.
